Dr. Sammy Pryor

I am a licensed naturopathic doctor, which means I am a natural medicine expert and a trained physician. As a naturopathic doctor we work with you to bring you back to health, so we work with all health conditions. However, I have a few specialties I will discuss below. First, I am going to discuss my educational background, then I am going to discuss specialties that I obtained in school and since I have graduated.

Weight gain- I graduated from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2019, as the valedictorian of my class. Upon graduation I started a residency at my alma mater and finished that March 12, 2021. I obtained my undergraduate degrees a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Science in Modern Languages from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2008. Upon graduation, I served 6 years in the Army as a medic and worked in clinic as well as a training NCO which means I tracked the Soldier's physical fitness, weight, and measurements if they were overweight. In this position I was responsible to track the progress of the Soldiers in their journey back to healthy weight and fitness. In clinic in naturopathic medical school, many of my patients lost weight and gained fitness so I hope to do that with you too.

Generative Medicine- In ND school, I specialized in Generative Medicine which is plugging in many of your measurements and biometrics in combination with your blood type to give you a specialized diet, plugging your DNA into the software called OPUS and exploring your SNPs and seeing which ones are contributing to your health conditions, and lastly, taking your stool analysis with PCR and plugging that into a software called UTOPIA and figuring out what foods and plants are needed to promote certain "good" bacteria, and to decrease other "bad" bacteria.

ALS Specialist- Another one of my specialties I carry is as an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) specialist, because I lost my father to this disease in June 2016. My thesis (which is a massive research paper) in order to graduate from naturopathic school was on ALS called, "HOW DOES SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE 1 CAUSE FAMILIAL AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS AND TREATMENT OPTIONS?". My research for this paper I learned that SOD1 mutations only make up only about 10% of familial ALS, but also contribute to about 15% of sporadic ALS. So, that means what I learned for my thesis applies to about 25% of all patients with ALS. Since graduation I have published one journal article called, "Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: Microbiome Alterations" where I learned some alterations that apply to SOD1 ALS and Cr9orf72 ALS. This Cr9orf72 mutation contributes to 40% of all familial ALS. This July I have another journal article coming out called, " Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: Mitochondrial Alterations in C9orf72-ALS" and this August I am presenting at the 18th International Conference on Traditional Medicine and Acupuncture from August 11-12, 2022, with a talk called, "Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: Mitochondrial Alterations in SOD1 ALS". I also specialize in Huntington's Disease, as well as the other neurodegenerative diseases in general.

Fertility Specialist- At this season in my life, many of patients are around my age so I have many patients I have treated for miscarriages and infertility which I prefer to call "fertility challenges", because working with a naturopathic doctor majority go on to get pregnant and have live births. So, I have developed quite the expertise in fertility medicine.

Mind-Body Medicine and Abusive Relationships- Lastly, I have struggled for 2 years to get out of an abusive relationship. I had to heal my childhood traumas. I had to heal from the PTSD from the abuse and the trauma caused by my abusive spouse and his abusive mother. So, I have invested heavily in learning these techniques so I could help myself, but also for my patients so they can get out of the abusive cycles as well. Many of these techniques include working on self-esteem, putting up boundaries, and learning and doing mind-body practices. I want to be the therapeutic relationship to help you get out of these toxic relationships, as these damage your mental and emotional health which in turn will eventually damage your physical health.

So, please understand I love my patients and I strive to be the best I can be. At this point, I have helped 0 patients and I know I can help you reach your health and fitness goals as well.
