Ever wonder why you are eating more food? There are several factors that contribute to us overeating daily. Whether you mean to or not, overeating ultra processed food or heavily processed food plays a role in obesity.
In this session we will look at calorie density, which is the number of calories in a given portion or bite of food. We tend to eat more ultra processed food than unprocessed foods. Ultra-processed foods diet has nearly twice the calorie density of an unprocessed food diet. Water is main character in determining how if our food is more or less calorie dense.
We will talk about variety. As humans we are programmed to seek out variety. When we eat a variety of foods, we are assured we are getting a different variety of nutrients. It can also lead us to consume more food, ever wonder why you have room for dessert?
Serving sizes- We will review what serving and portion sizes are, and why it’s important to know the difference. How to measure food when eating out. What your plate should look like at each meal.
Liquid calories, we often don’t compensate for our liquid calories when eating. We are more likely to consume more calories with soda, juices or milk than just water.
Texture and how quickly we eat also plays a role in eating more food. Convenience, cost, and advertising also play a critical role in our eating patterns.
I will give you some tips on how to limit Ultra-processed food and how to make small changes for healthy lifestyle.
