The lymphatic system is crucial for optimal functioning of our general and specific immune response.
It acts as the “sewerage system”, protector and defender of the body. It maintains the level of fluid in our body. It carries the fluid containing cellular waste, debris, toxins, bacteria, infections, pathogens and malignant cells to the lymph nodes and other lymphatic organs that will then monitor and responds by producing cells and antibodies which protects our body. The lymphatic system also plays an important role in the absorption of fats from the intestine.
When it is not functioning well due to damage to the lymphatic system or problems with movement and drainage of the fluid from infection, injury, inflammation, cancer treatment, Lyme’s disease or even stress and breathing dysfunction, the faulty lymphatic system may have a role in obesity, Crohn’s disease and other disorders, infections and recurrent infections, swelling and chronic primary and secondary lymphedema. Other more subtle symptoms of a sluggish lymphatic system may include headaches, chronic fatigue, bloating, skin issues and brain fog.
