Indigenous peoples have used medicine wheels for thousands of years as part of their sacred life and the life of their communities. Some wheels are used in sacred ceremonies and wheels that are used to guide and inform the people as they move through life.
The sacred wheel that my teachers and I use is not based on the medicine wheels of any indigenous culture. It is born from our understanding of the sacred feminine on Mother Earth as it has been preserved and handed down from shaman to apprentice, mother to daughter, for many thousands of years. It is an earth-based wheel that teaches us how to live on our great Mother Earth in harmony, joy, and abundance and it helps us find our own personal truth in life and the answers we need when decisions must be made. It brings us to the place where we are one with the Great Spirit and all of life, which is the true source of wisdom and power in the universe. Lynn Andrews
