We are going to be covering three breathing techniques throughout this session that will leave you feeling replenished and refreshed. These three techniques include: kapalabhati, bhastrika, and surya bhedana.
Kapalabhati (also called the breath of fire) involves a forceful exhalation and a passive inhalation. It increases blood flow, helps improve focus, and increases lung capacity.
Bhastrika (sometimes referred to as the bellows breath) is similar to kapalabhati, but it involves forceful inhalation as well as forceful exhalation. It is considered the most energizing of all the breathing techniques.
Surya bhedana (sun breath) produces activation of the solar/masculine channel, helping you to feel strong and powerful. You do this by breathing into the right nostril and out the left nostril.
These techniques are best done early in the day. As always, I encourage you to go at your own pace and I hope you enjoy!
