Becoming a Mother with Dr. Kumi

My 1:1 sessions are designed to support expecting and new moms as they transition into the fourth trimester and beyond. Each of our sessions focuses on mental and emotional health topics that can present as challenges in the 4th trimester, as well as education to increase awareness and reduce isolation. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders is underdiscussed and less understood than it should be, and this contributes to the maternal mental health crisis. When moms have the support, guidance, and connection to be successful in the fourth trimester and remain healthy and whole as they transition into motherhood. I have two personal journeys dealing with PMAD's and am certified in perinatal mental health practices. I have been on the other side of this lack of information and support as I entered into motherhood and now I use this experience and training to make this transition much more peaceful for moms while educating them on what to really expect when they have their baby and beyond.

What to expect in a meeting: Support, education, and guidance surrounding the mental health aspect of pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. The sessions are driven by the client and guided by the coach. We use this time and space to talk about the realities of motherhood and the best ways to mentally prepare for what lies ahead in the fourth trimester and beyond. You can expect to receive new information, validation around your feelings, and a safe space to process your current experience and address fears and anxieties associated with having a baby. Connecting with someone who has lived experience and training in this subject matter is a valuable asset in getting the least judgmental perspective as it relates to your journey.
