Holistic health considered the entire person and focuses not only on presenting symptoms, but how to proactively build our wellness and nourish ourselves. Not preparing holistically for surgery can be compared to an athlete showing up for the big game without stretching. Utilizing specific interventions with exercise, sleep, mind/body reset, diet, herbs, supplements, and lifestyle help our entire being be primed for a smoother surgery experience and a more pleasant aftermath.
On October 2nd, 2020, I had bunion surgery. The bunion on my right foot was considered severe, causing me pain and numbness and without surgery I was told I would arthritis would develop. I prepared for over two months, went seven weeks without any pressure on my foot, and was quoted at a nine to twelve month recovery. Healing is not linear, however, I was dancing on New Years Eve and hiking by January, all through this holistic preparation and healing process.
