Garland Niblett

I am a NBHWC Nutritional Consultant through the Primal Health Institute and the Institute for the Psychology of Eating.
How do you feel? This is usually my first question that I ask every client. It's a basic question for most of us. Let me ask again: How do you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally? Take a moment to think about your overall health.
In 2011, I was diagnosed with PTSD and stayed at a Veterans Affairs clinic for 11 months. Before that, I was a competitive natural bodybuilder, weighing 190lbs with around 3% body fat. I used to be a personal trainer in the early 2000s, promoting a lifestyle of eating 5-6 meals daily every 2-3 hours. This routine, along with intense workouts, helped me win some competitions.
During my time at the VA hospital, I faced significant challenges. After trying various medications, my weight surged to 305lbs., resulting in a morbid obesity diagnosis. This journey revealed two interconnected aspects: the mental and physical. Recognizing this, I prioritized addressing my mental well-being, embracing therapy to strengthen my mind. Opening up about my experiences was empowering. While focusing on my mental health, my weight issue persisted, underscoring the need for guidance in my weight loss journey.
Connecting with the right therapist allowed me to focus on my overall health, including working on an intense diet plan. As a result of our work together, I successfully lost 100lbs within six months. The journey was both exciting and transformative, although undeniably challenging. Throughout the process, my therapist provided valuable guidance, emphasizing the importance of listening to my body's needs and cues.
As I continued my journey as a personal trainer, I found myself increasingly intrigued by the profound impact of nutrition on overall health. Delving into the intricacies of how the human body interacts with food became a newfound passion of mine. Exploring the fascinating realms of circadian rhythms and their influence on our dietary habits opened my eyes to the profound effects of meal timing. This exploration eventually led me to an in-depth study of fasting practices and their physiological implications.
My deep-rooted passion lies in health, fitness, and overall wellness. Drawing from over 25 years of experience as a personal trainer and a health & wellness consultant, I have faced and triumphed over challenges such as PTSD and morbid obesity. I specialize in aiding individuals dealing with binge/emotional eating, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and weight loss through the implementation of Intermittent/Extended Fasting techniques.
I look forward in assisting you with your overall health & Wellness goals.
