Are you carrying something that talk therapy alone hasn't been able to reach? Trauma, anxiety, and the weight of unprocessed experience don't just live in the mind — they live in the body. And that's exactly where Glen works.
Glen Nielsen is a certified Hakomi practitioner and Somatic Experiencing therapist with 25+ years of experience in healing and transformation. His approach is gentle, trauma-informed, and deeply respectful of each client's pace — drawing on two of the most respected body-centered therapeutic modalities in the world to help you access and release what words alone can't reach.
What is Somatic Counseling?
Somatic counseling is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes the profound connection between our physical sensations, emotions, and life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy which focuses primarily on the mind, somatic work invites the wisdom of the body into the healing process. Trauma, stress, grief, and emotional pain are held in the nervous system — and somatic therapy provides a gentle, effective pathway to release them.
Hakomi is a mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy that uses present-moment awareness and loving presence to help clients access deeply held beliefs and emotional patterns. Somatic Experiencing, developed by Dr. Peter Levine, works directly with the nervous system to heal trauma at its root. Together these two modalities create a uniquely powerful and compassionate approach to healing.
Who Glen Works With
Glen works with men and women navigating trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, grief, spiritual growth, and the deeper questions of men's work and personal transformation. Whether you're processing a painful past, feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, struggling with anxiety that won't quiet down, or simply ready to go deeper — somatic work can open doors that other approaches leave closed.
Glen is also the co-steward of The Aerie, a 30-acre retreat center in southern Oregon, where he leads men's groups, personal retreat intensives, and transformational workshops. He brings the same depth, presence, and genuine care to every one-on-one session that he brings to that sacred land.
What to Expect
Glen creates a safe, unhurried space where you set the pace. There is no pressure to perform or produce — just a warm, steady presence and a genuine invitation to slow down, turn inward, and allow healing to happen from the inside out. Sessions are conducted via Zoom and are 60 minutes in length.
Sliding scale pricing is available for those with financial barriers — Glen believes that healing should be accessible to everyone who is ready for it.
Start with a free 15-minute discovery call to get a sense of Glen's approach and see if working together feels like the right fit. Many clients describe their first session as the moment something finally shifted — not because anything dramatic happened, but because they finally felt truly met.
