Need help making your diet work? Do you need a full wellness plan?
If you have been to a dietitian you probably already have a basic meal plan. You may have tried to make it work, but for some reason you just can't stick with it right? It may be because it is not truly fit for your lifestyle, routine, job or culture. These are areas some dietitians skip due to time or lack of training. All of these can affect your ability or follow your diet. When you speak with an integrative professional, all parts of your life are considered when creating a diet or wellness plan. If you have not seen a dietitian and are ready to transform your entire lifestyle this consultation is still the best option. It gives you the chance to have a full assessment of your diet and any conditions from an integrative perspective at the start.
As an integrative nutritionist who is also an herbalist, I want to know about various aspects of your life that can affect your ability to follow a diet. This includes things like how certain cultural foods affect the diet, practices like fasting for religious or personal reasons, or even how to structure a diet while working the night shift. Each of these can make it difficult to stay on a basic diet or make changes without help. That is why I created this consultation, to help those who have already started find a way to personalize their general diet making it easier to stick with. For clients starting from scratch, it gives a full spectrum view of how to change your diet and fit it easily into your current life.
My nutrition consultation is based on holistic or integrative medicine. This means we look at all aspects of health and wellness. Therefore, you will be given information related to your diet, but also other areas that affect health and well being. This includes sleep, career, leisure and mental health. All of these areas influence our eating and therefore our overall wellness, so they are discussed in the consult as well. Together we will create a diet and exercise plan with each factor in mind.
You will receive information on how much of each type of food you need to increase or decrease, along with info on possible vitamins or minerals needed. This means I will go over if you need more or less protein fat or carbs in the diet, and if you need more of a certain vitamin in your diet. If I find you need more of a certain vitamin in your diet, we will go over foods high in that vitamin and find ways to integrate them into your weekly routine. Foods and or herbs will be the first methods suggested for increasing low nutrients, if needed, supplement recommendation can be made as well. If applicable dosing instructions will be provided.
Outside of diet we will address all factors that will affect your ability to follow the diet. This includes your job schedule, the times and amount of sleep per night, your religious or cultural practices and leisure activities. We will discuss how to alter or continue following your diet when these factors make it difficult to do so. As an herbalist, I will also recommend herbs, spices and specific foods to eat frequently to help with any issues or imbalances. Herbs can be found in grocery stores, online or can be purchased directly from me. I also go over common herbs and spices you already have. We will talk about what you can use them for, how to use them and any precautions needed based on your current medications. Research and resources are given to refer back to or for others involved in your wellness journey.
