Find a cozy spot, pour a cup of your favorite beverage and let's chat about birth. You can ask anything in this 90 minute chat and planning session to create your personal birth plan. You can use this session just to ask questions about your options, help organize your thoughts, make informed decisions, or use the information to create an official birth plan.
A birth plan is a written summary of your personal preferences for your labor, delivery, and postpartum experience. It serves as a guideline for your care team. You will give copies to your midwife, doula, OBGYN, birth partner(s), and/ or other people involved in your care.
Things that can be included in your birth plan:
*Your Identity - Do you have a name and/or pronouns that you wish to be addressed by?
*Location of birth - hospital, home birth, or birth center?
*Who is present - Who do you allow in the birthing space? Do you have a doula?
*Nutrition & Hydration- Do you want to drink fluids during labor or receive IV fluids?
*Ambiance - Do you want the lights dim, music, or essential oils used in the birthing space?
*Pain relief - Do you wish to use baths, showers, and other natural pain relief, or to have medications available? Or both?
Episiotomies & other common procedures - do you wish to decline any of these?
*Postpartum care - What are your postpartum preferences? Do you want to room with your baby?
*Feeding - Do you wish to breastfeed/chestfeed or are bottles part of your plan?
Placenta care - do you wish to have your placenta encapsulated or saved for any other reason?
Spiritual preferences - Do you have any spiritual rituals or non religious aspects that you wish to have respected?
