Running speed is the foundation of the vast majority of sports and often a major component of tryouts and standing out on a playing field. In addition, millions of people take part in races each year. While many athletes have not had formal speed or endurance training, running speed is a very malleable skill. Through review of running mechanics and speed and power training modalities, significant improvement can be made on both linear speed and direction change.
On top of two nutrition degrees and my Registered Dietitian credential, I have years competing as a Division I and semi-professional track and field athlete, and training for and competing in the ultra multi-events, involving each event in track and field, has given me the opportunity to personally test nearly every fitness and exercise principle. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer and USATF Level II Track & Field Coach, in addition to coaching dozens of national medalists in track and field.
