Holistic Help for beloved furry ones
In the last 20 years, serious pet diseases seem to have become more of the norm. Examples include cancers, liver diseases, serious allergies and even mental health issues.
Whole pet health wellness can often be effectively and safely worked through with using holistic modalities. These embrace all parts of a body as interacting in unison rather than as separate elements. Emotional and mental states do indeed influence your pet’s physical bodies. The health of the body truly has a great impact on overall functions of their brain.
As a pet owner, local pet rescue assistant, and a health coach, I am happy to see holistic medicine growth. Current and new research studies present scientific support for alternative medicine practices. Examples include acupuncture, massage and nutritional therapies for pet pain relief. Many holistic veterinarians are now using a combination of both conventional lab tests and meds as well as alternative/integrative treatments.
One of the cornerstones for overall pet health (much like human health) is smarter/better nutrition.
Nutritional research shows promise for prevention of common illnesses and immune system function. Science fully shows the importance of your pet’s gut microbiome. In addition, Medical researchers are proving the relationship between gut health and brain function is powerful.
The gastrointestinal tract has more nerves that even your spinal cord. Called the enteric nervous system or ENS, it is a single entity, often referred to as the body's “second brain”. (although now in science the gut is even being referred to as the FIRST BRAIN!). In fact, over 90% of the serotonin your body produces generates in your gut, NOT the brain. Anxiety, mood disorders, etc. can be a potential side effect of poor gut ecology— “bad bugs” in your GI tract instead of the good guys.
Not all pet foods are created equally. Many are missing important micronutrients and some are outright dangerous to your pet
I teach how and why to create a healthy gut microbiome for your pet. When your pets gut is OFF BALANCE or is missing key bacteria, this puts your pet at greater risk for developing health conditions which can lead to more serious health issues.
