Learn the Truth about Real Food Nutrients vs. Synthetic Isolates with Ilyse.
I am a wellness educator with a focus on Functional Nutrition.
When I do a consult with clients, I help you develop health goals which fit your individual needs.
I have been immersed in the study of ancient nutrition with research expertise about how wholefoods/wild foods affect health.
I particularly focus on ancient foods (such as microalgae and medicinal fungi) in supplements form for filling in dietary gaps.
I believe in the mantra that FOOD IS OUR BEST MEDICINE. I basically teach you how NOT to waste your money, and how to make your budget work best for your individual health needs.
What I promote—and how functional nutrition works-- is a real paradigm shift from the main way most supplements are created.
MOST supplements follow Western Medicine in how they are formulated. By this I mean, they are produced to affect a specific symptom or issue.
Products may be formulated to affect diabetes or heart disease; colitis or arthritis; hypothyroidism or adrenal exhaustion, etc.
Additionally, in MOST cases, the key or featured active ingredients or core formulas are lab-created. This is often accompanied by the boast of a trademarked name or patent.
This method of supplementation assumes that the professional is looking at symptoms. Thankfully, in most companies at least, there is an attempt to find root causes and address those--yet ultimately, like drugs, the formulas are often focused on 1 primary issue.
I feel the reason for this is three fold:
1. People are familiar with this.Describe a symptom/problem, then get something to fix it. --This is how we are taught to use OTC drugs and certainly how our docs prescribe a drug.
2. Most professionals are familiar with this way to fix issues. As stated above,it is how we are taught to 'see' illness, in general.
3. The supplement companies make WAAYYY more money when they can sell a separate product for each issue.
Now, I believe everyone, (including practitioners) have the right to expect to earn a bit of cash with a sale of a product. But it’s unfortunate when a more ‘holistic’ practitioner only adds a new or separate product for every single problem. First and foremost: This simply isn’t how your body uses nutrients. Secondly, many if not most supplements are created with solvents or high heat.
With Functional Nutrition, we see that there are a myriad of problems and truly, very few root causes. The roots sometimes entangle and make unique cases, and certainly each person has their unique presentation of symptoms--however, ultimately, I believe that at the root, we have just a few true roots:
1. Not enough of the raw materials to create healthy cells (food nutrients)
2. Not enough--or any!--of the right bacteria upon which our health relies.
3. An overabundance of toxins and pollutants stressing our systems, without the raw materials to help remove them safely (back to nutrients and energy).
4. DNA which is being directed away from healthy function due to toxins and bad epigenetic interactions to "foods" and the environment.
These root causes mostly lead to
FIRST: Poor immune function
SECOND: Poor energy levels
THIRD: Poor thinking due to not enough raw materials for healthy brain function.
FROM here, all other things branch out, in my experience.

I especially love these two blog links focused on "wildfoods" nutrition with a spotlight on WILD AFA MICROALGAE:

2) https://blog.newearth.com/vitamins-you-probably-arent-getting-from-your-diet/
While I do use and share this algae supplement, I do also recommend ONLY a few other brands which I have myself vetted through many years of R & D. I am a whole-foodie fan, and I believe in the study of Nutrigenomics (think Genetics and how Nutrition can positively affect the Genome).
From a more full education, we can only appreciate food nutrients' relevance to the practice of preventive approaches for optimizing health, delaying onset of disease, and diminishing its severity.
I will help to better educate and discuss the basic concepts of functional nutritional therapy, and how nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics is currently emerging as a knowledge which can be applied to optimize health; while working to help support a most highly functioning immune response we can literally help the body's innate healing response to treat diseases.
