I Know What It's Like to Feel Stuck
I Went From 360 Lbs, Anxious and Depressed, to Healthy, Confident, and Genuinely Fired up About Life.
Before my transformation, I remember that stuck feeling being overwhelming.
- Stuck in a cycle of using food as a coping mechanism
- Debilitated by anxiety and depression daily
- Running from and avoiding my problems at all costs
The idea of change felt like standing at the bottom of an unclimbable mountain, looking up and thinking there was no chance I could ever come close to the top.
So I never even took the first step. I accepted things the way they were and continued to go through the motions. I considered myself a lost cause.
Eventually, I ran out of room to run and hit absolute rock bottom–broke, binge eating McDonald's in the parking lot, bawling my eyes out in my car. Yep, true story.
Fortunately, that extreme low point was the kick I needed to decide that things needed to change. That single decision transformed my life forever, and I haven't looked back since.
What Led To My Transformation?
It All Came Down to These Five Phases of Lifestyle Change That I Still Use With Clients Today
Awareness
- Understand your thoughts, triggers, and tendencies and gain a sense of power over them.
- No more being a victim of your emotions or succumbing to self-sabotaging tendencies.
- Get out of autopilot and take back control of the steering wheel.
Habits
- Implement habits that finally stick.
- Fuel your body in a way that addresses hunger first, leaving you full and satisfied instead of ravenous and restricted.
- Give yourself the tools to tackle challenges head-on, shift your perspective, and increase your ability to stay consistent.
Defenses
- Crush cravings and develop strategies for all of your triggers.
- Feel prepared for any “danger scenarios” that might have derailed you in the past–no more letting things like social gatherings and stress keep you from your goals.
Momentum
- Start stacking wins in your favor on the way to your big-picture vision of the future.
- Gain newfound confidence and belief in your abilities.
- Adopt a new way to view and trust the process–no more false starts or restarts.
Decisions
- Start making decisions based on growth and progress instead of comfort and instant gratification.
- Develop the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
- Stop unconsciously reacting to difficult people and situations.
Tired of Dealing With a One Size Fits All Approach?
If you’re like me, you’ve likely tried it all. From juice cleanses to 30-day quick fixes, everything.
So many programs fail because they never bother to look beyond the surface level. Lifestyle change is so much more than nutritional information or a workout regimen.
Actual, lasting change requires a holistic, individualized approach. The mental aspect is just as important as the physical. Things like support, stress, coping mechanisms, relationships, and understanding the root cause of certain behaviors all matter.
After years of failed weight loss attempts, addressing the mental aspect was the difference I needed to finally make it stick. Before that, I never took the time to dive into why I lived such an unhealthy life. I was on autopilot.
Once I became aware of my tendencies and understood the role food played as a way to deal with life, I started implementing positive habits to replace the negative ones.
For the first time in my life, I had real momentum and began making decisions with the "future me" in mind. I finally felt confident progressing towards my goals without wondering when it would all inevitably come crashing down.
This approach enabled me to lose 180 pounds and keep it off. It equipped me with the tools to handle anything thrown my way and led to a genuine enthusiasm for life I hadn't felt before.
I will always have plenty to learn, grow, and improve upon, but I'm living proof that no mountain is unclimbable. Anyone is capable of change, and no one is a lost cause or too far gone.
I've found my purpose in helping others climb their own mountains and overcome obstacles. Empowering them to achieve similar freedom, control, and become exactly who they want to be.
No matter what obstacles stand in your way, there are endless possibilities and experiences on the other side waiting to be explored.
