The strategies I use with clients are holistic and take into account much more than food, calories or portion sizes. We will also explore other factors that can contribute to weight gain, such as stress, sleep, exercise/physical activity, gut health, and exposure to toxins. Besides helping you create a healthy eating plan that you can stick to with foods that are healthy, satisfying, and delicious, we will also address the beliefs, emotions, and lifestyle factors that might be getting in your way. Stress can cause you to reach for comfort foods to soothe yourself, but even if you eat a healthy diet, stress hormones can cause you to gain weight, particularly in your belly. I can help you fit easy stress reduction strategies into your busy daily routine.
All calories are not created equally. You will learn how different foods affect your blood sugar and insulin response. High insulin levels block weight loss because insulin is a fat storage hormone. Many of the foods that spike insulin are also intentionally made addictive by the food industry. Ultra-processed foods hijack your taste buds making you want to keep coming back for more.
We will also gradually make improvements to your exercise/physical activity and sleep habits in a way that works for your lifestyle.
We will also work on identifying and shifting any limiting beliefs about healthy eating, cooking, and exercise. Shifting your mindset is key to helping you embrace the changes that are needed for you to successfully reach and maintain a healthy weight.
