Because of our lifestyles and sitting for the majority of jobs, our upright bodies start to round and our postural muscles become weak and tight, leading to muscular and skeletal imbalances, incorrect range of movement, and injury. These imbalances can affect circulation, nerve pathways, digestion, and a host of other bodily functions. I combine postural exercises and mental focus of those areas before any strength training begins, to ensure proper range of muscular contraction, leading to correct positional muscular development which increases gains in muscle and strength in movements while minimizing risk of injury.
I don’t need to tell you the benefits of strength training for overall health, as they are well documented as the best way to increase bodily function, body composition, and hormone levels while being able to minimize or reverse metabolic diseases. Whether your goal is to lose fat, gain muscle, gain strength, increase mobility, I will create a personalized posture and strength training plan for you to follow, as well as general guidance toward nutrition. I have dealt with my own postural issues and injuries for my entire adult life, as well as being overweight and extremely unhealthy, so I know exactly what it takes to fix these things. What to expect in a meeting:
The first session will be a meet and greet where I get to know you, your history, your motivations, background in exercise, habits, imbalances, pain, and anything else that is relevant to your goals. There will be a couple questionnaires I go through, but this is mainly and chance to get to know each other, ask questions, and really work together to create a realistic and executable plan that works for YOU! Please be prepared to discuss 24-48 hours of dietary consumption habits. The second sessions will focus on your specific posture evaluations, specific stretches and posture exercises for the upper and lower body. This session also focuses on building the mind-muscle connection in your posture muscles, to understand what should be happening with your muscles. The third and fourth session will be customized, guided strength training sessions while incorporating posture lessons from the previous session. Each session will have time at the end for a short Q&A about anything from previous sessions.
