This is an exploration of Parenting skills building using The Chicago Parent Program. Together we will explore different skills and communication methods to help in how you parent with yourself, and your child/children.
Some parenting tips you will learn include: age-appropriate time out, how to help your child with healthy emotional expression, and exploring chore charts and rewards, processing events after your child has done something wrong, how to handle temper tantrums, and thinking about how you talk to yourself as you navigate the ups and downs of parenting.
Whether you feel like a novice parent, an expert parent, or somewhere in the middle, this class is a safe space to learn new skills, hone and improve known skills, and feel more assured of yourself as you raise your kids from baby to kid, to teen, and beyond.
More about myself: I graduated from Radford University having obtained my Bachelor of Social Work [BSW] degree, and Master of Social Work [MSW] degree. In the past, I have held active clinical licenses in Virginia and Washington D.C. Throughout my career, I have obtained training and gained several certifications. I became a certified Chicago Parent Program trainer in 2012, an Internal Behavioral Health Consultant/Coach in 2015, and earned my certification as a CBT Cognitive Behavioral Life Coach in 2024. I have been helping others make the changes they desire through therapy and life coaching, since 2007.
I look forward to helping you feel more confident as a parent.
