The MIND Diet with Elizabeth

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist passionate about making healthy living more attainable. I have worked in a variety of settings from inpatient oncology to outpatient weight management. I have a passion for finding new things in the market and translating them for more people to understand them. One trend that is growing in interest is the MIND diet. The MIND diet is a mix of the Mediterranean and DASH diets and is reported to maintain and build brain health.
The Mediterranean diet is a diet that has been studied for years and has a lot of research backing it up as a very healthy diet associated with positive health outcomes such as lower cholesterol, obesity and lower risk for disease. The DASH diet stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. This was created to aid those dealing with high blood pressure .The DASH diet is a low sodium and fat diet meant to decrease high blood pressure. New research is showing that a blend of these two diets may have beneficial effects on our brains.
During this session we will look at the MIND diet, it’s recommendations and how these would look if implemented in real life. We will be able to take what this new research is finding and translate it into our real lives.
