Mindful Eating and actually mindfulness in general is a concept that is not widely embraced in America. The dictionary defines mindfulness as, "a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations".
The Mindful Consumption program takes the concept of mindfulness and applies it to how you eat. Believe it or not, our bodies are not designed to manage things like stress and digestion at the same time. There's much science behind this statement which I will be happy to explain to you should you choose to join this program.
What you need to know is that if you learn how to eat mindfully your body will tell you when it's full and you won't overeat. You'll lose weight by mindfully eating and consuming foods that are healthy in quantities that make sense for your body. Our bodies are programmed to do amazing things, but we have to listen to them and that's what mindful eating is all about! I don't deny myself the things I love (this often ends badly with binge eating) but I do make sensible choices and trade-offs when necessary to maintain my weight.
