According to many researchers, unprocessed emotional experiences end up trapped within our physical and energetic body, which also includes around our heart.
You're probably familiar with the phrases 'They have a wall around their heart' or 'I can't let my walls down.' When we say that, we're not necessarily talking about a literal physical wall, but there is an actual, literal energetic wall that often gets in the way of our ability to be in relationship with others (family, friends, romantic partners, even ourself).
Energy clearings help to identify these subconscious emotions that make up this what I refer to as 'heart wall' and release them. The best part is, we don't need to know where these emotions or beliefs came from, why they are there, or even talk about previous experiences that might have contributed. I like to think of energy clearings like talk therapy, but on fast forward - and without the talking.
During an energy clearing, you get to choose whether you want to actively participate in the clearing process or simply relax and passively release things. Prior to identifying any of your subconscious beliefs or trapped emotions, you can choose whether you want the intention of the clearing to be around something specific (an event, feeling, specific part of the body, etc.) or if you prefer, it can be a general clearing of the heart wall.
I like to think of energy work like the layers of an onion. We have to start somewhere, and that’s the outermost layer of the onion. Once we are able to release whatever is within the first layer, more and more things will start to become ready to be released. With all energy work, only what the body is ready to release can be cleared; we can’t force anything to be cleared from our energy system - sometimes it’s only a handful of emotions or a single belief, sometimes it’s hundreds - even thousands of them. The heart wall is no different. It's almost like it's own entity, with it's own layers.
The body will tell us how much and what is ready to be released at any given time, and you should not expect to be able to clear out everything in a single session (remember, we’re an onion). Oftentimes the more consistent you are, the more ready different emotions and beliefs will be.
At the end of a session, most people feel noticeably lighter. Some people will experience an emotional release (crying) during or after a session, some people will feel extremely relaxed, some people may feel a little agitated for the remainder of the day; everyone is different and it’s impossible to know exactly how every person will feel. Because energy is subtle, the shifts you experience may also show up in a very subtle way, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t feel some huge smack-you-in-the-face shift; it’s still working whether you have an obvious experience or not. Be on the look out for how you show up in relationships and how your feelings or beliefs towards things start to shift.
