Coach Maynard

I am a National Certified Personal Trainer with Distinction through the National Strength and Conditioning Association: focused mainly in working with Geriatrics and Special Populations. (Special Populations meaning anyone who has chronic conditions or is not currently a professional athlete.)

With both my Health and Exercise Science degree (physical health) and Psychology degree (mental health) I am better able to treat the client as a whole person verses just focusing on one aspect of their life.

English is my primary language and I am also fluent in American Sign Language.

I am able to broadening individuals’ perspectives and knowledge by see their world from their perspective and then offer some additional and alternative options.

I participate in a variety of continuing education classes throughout the year to keep up my credentials. The classes that I excel in are focused on flexibility, balance, posture, geriatric training, mental health and focus, and nutrition.

I am comfortable working with the everyday person. I have worked with clients of various ages and backgrounds with varying levels of physical/chronic aliments, nutritionally, cognitive or mental abilities; including those with dementia/Alzheimer's.

I quickly discover the client’s lifestyle experiences in order to add productive healthy living habits by using SMART goals. I enjoy hearing about a clients past life to not only get to know them, but to get an better idea of what kind of life they are accustomed to. Often times, the people I work with have been an athlete or active to some degree in their life and already have a foundation of knowledge of how they have or are able to exercise. Upon determining that aspect, I am then able to customize some new and reasonable lifestyle habits seamlessly into their current routine. I ensure that these new habits include both physical and mental exercises; as well as realistic nutrition options.

I have been a caregiver of one love-one or another practically my entire life. It was my primary focus for a recent 15 years. I have a thorough understanding of the world of being a caregiver and the person being cared for. My unique perspectives aid me in discovering a less stressful solution to those living in the world of caregiving. I have also worked in a few assisted livings, including Memory Care, as a Health Coach. My moto is Keep Moving Forward!

When I exercise with people, exercise becomes less of a chore and more a way a life. It becomes part of the day that we look forward to and want to do. Soon, our new way of living will just become part of the daily routine without even thinking about it.

When I have limited knowledge about a specific topic, I let the client know right then of my limited knowledge and that I will research as much as I can about the topic and get back to them in a timely manner.

I am sensitive in working with people, keeping in mind that anything and everything can be a trigger. There is no cookie-cutter approach when it comes to working with people. My main goals are to provide a productive, safe, and calming experience for those I work with.

Broaden your horizon and keep moving forward.
